SAVMA Public Health and Community Outreach Committee 

The Public Heath and Community Outreach Committee (PHCOC) is thrilled to announce that we will be awarding 2 stipends of $500 and 1 stipend of $1,000 each to retroactively reimburse SAVMA members for costs accrued during an externship completed between April 1st, 2020 and March 31st, 2021. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, the student must be a SAVMA member in good standing attending an accredited school or college of veterinary medicine. The application is due April 15th, 2021

VIN Topic Rounds

Are you missing out on clinical rotations because of COVID-19? The VIN Student Team has you covered with Tuesday Topic Rounds.  During the month of December, join Dr. Tony Johnson, DVM, DACVECCS for 30 minute, case-based sessions on Emergency Medicine every Tuesday at 12ET. Vet Candy launches new lifestyle show for the veterinary audience

“Vet Candy Life,” featuring well-being gurus Dr. Quincy Hawley and Renee Machel, hopes to relieve stress in the profession with its innovative lifestyle format.

Montclair, NJ: Today marks the launch of Vet Candy Life, a show that focuses on physical, emotional, and financial wellness for veterinary professionals and students.

Veterinary medicine is a stressful profession, and veterinarians experience a high rate of burnout and compassion fatigue. According to a recent wellness study, even those who were mentally healthy and had high levels of well-being overall experienced feelings of depression, anxiety, compassion fatigue, or burnout with some frequency.
