Veterinary student influencers to host new Vet Candy Podcast

Vet Candy IRL is an innovative podcast hosted by veterinary students, for veterinary students.

Vet Candy’s new podcast, IRL (In Real Life), is an exciting new podcast from the hearts, minds, and mouths of three veterinary students, Shannon Gregoire, Tatiana Rogers, and Lexi Rodriguez. Vet Candy IRL celebrates inspirational role-models and focuses on empowerment and equality, including disruptive leaders who have broken boundaries to get where they are today.

Veterinary students and Insta-friends, Shannon Gregoire from Western University, Tatiana Rogers from Colorado State, and Lexi Rodriguez from Texas A & M host Vet Candy IRL. In the pilot episode, the trio can be heard laughing and talking about some of the stories they’ll be featuring on the show, including how to make time for self-care between classes and how to enjoy life on a student budget.

In their announcement posts, Shannon, 24, Tatiana, 28, and Lexi, 24, displayed their charisma and chemistry that is evident on the podcast.

“Today marks the day we announce Vet Candy IRL,” wrote Shannon before joking that “taping these shows brought some levity into a crazy time.” On a more serious note, Shannon hopes that the podcast will “inspire other students” as the trio covers everything from video-conference exams to financial fitness to nutrition. Shannon went on to shower her co-hosts with praise. “Can’t wait to keep learning and laughing with Tatiana and Lexi. It is so much fun talking together about vet student life, sharing our experiences and talking about things that are most important to us,” she wrote.

In her own post, third-year veterinary student and fitness competitor Lexi opened up about how working on the podcast created a bright spot between Zoom classes and exams. “Dear @drshannondvm and @drfitvet, my podcast sisters, my inspiration, my friends. These past few months recording this podcast with you have been awesome,” she wrote. “I knew we’d have fun—but I didn’t realize how much I would learn about life.”

Vet Candy IRL is driven by inspiring stories of real people, especially those who challenge the definition of what is possible,” says Tatiana, who also holds an M.B.A. from Colorado State. “We want to have meaningful conversations with the people we look up tothose who are redefining what it means to break boundaries—and bringing that to the public.”

In the first episode, “Dream Jobs,” the trio talks about Dr. Sheridan Lathe, a veterinarian who sails around the world on Chuffed, a 37-foot sailboat, and offers free veterinary care and education to the communities and animals that need it most. Dr. Sheddy, as she is known on social media, is lucky enough to combine her many passions for travel, surfing, sailing, and animal care into an amazing adventure that she hopes will inspire people and change the world one community at a time.

“We look forward to engaging students and new grads with timely and honest conversations,” said Dr. Jill López, veterinarian and CEO of Vet Candy, LLC. “We hope that the show will inspire listeners to plan for their health, wellness, and finances as early as possible.”

Vet Candy IRL is the second podcast created by Vet Candy. Vet Candy Podcast launched in 2018 with Drs. Jenifer and Jason Chatfield hosting their segment, “In Other News,” which was nominated in 2020 for a People’s Choice Podcast Award and remains the most popular podcast show on Pet Life Radio.

The Vet Candy IRL podcast is available on demand from the myvetcandy.com website, iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, and other popular podcast platforms.
